In-studio newborn sessions

What to expect?

A studio newborn session is a special photography experience designed to capture the first few weeks of a baby’s life in a calm, controlled environment. Being well-prepared and relaxed will help make the session smooth and enjoyable. The result will be beautiful, timeless images of your newborn. We will guide you every step of the way!

  • Scheduling: Most of our clients book their sessions as early as the end of the first trimester. This will reserve space on the calendar for your session. We will anticipate the birth of baby, but choose a date and time together when baby arrives. Newborn sessions are often scheduled within the first two weeks after birth when the baby is still sleepy and easy to pose. At this time, the baby also hasn’t quite lost the wrinkly newborn look.

  • Preparation: I will send you prep tips and collect your preferences to style the session before your photoshoot. My prep guide includes useful tips to get your baby ready for their studio photo session, a list of things you might consider bringing along, as well as what to expect when you arrive at the studio. We will discuss your preferences beforehand, including any specific props, poses or themes you have in mind.

  • Experience: Our clients find us to be personable and accommodating. The studio is warm and inviting with a calm atmosphere aimed at keeping your baby content. Newborn sessions move at a relaxed pace, allowing breaks to feed or sooth baby. Timeframe for the session depends on the package you select and how much time we need to complete the session you choose.

  • Post-Session: All packages now include digital images. We spend a lot of time at the computer hand-editing each image prior to providing completed work to our clients. Your final images will be completely, professionally retouched and ready to print upon delivery. You will receive a download link within (check with studio for current turn-around time.) Prints and products are available for purchase as additional items. Our newborn album is extremely popular - samples albums are available to view in the studio.

  • As a Minnesota New born photographer, I have over 15 years of experience photographing newborns. This includes babies from minutes old in the hospital to babies newly discharged from the NICU at 2 months. We have photographed single babies as well as twin newborns and even quadruplets.
